Bajaj Housing Finance IPO Shares Soar 130%, Doubles Fortunes

Hello,
Markets ended marginal gains after briefly touching all-time highs. Most notably, Bajaj Housing Finance’s blockbuster IPO dazzled investors as its stock skyrocketed over 130% on debut, instantly doubling fortunes and cementing its place as India’s largest IPO of 2024. Crude oil prices have stabilized ahead of the US Fed's interest rate decision. Cyqure India plans to raise Rs 3,000 crore through debentures to help finance the purchase of Reliance Capital.

As of 16/09/24

  • Indian frontline indices closed Monday’s session with slight gains, even after touching new record highs. Investors were cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting, where a rate cut is expected for the first time since 2020.

  • The Sensex and Nifty posted a slight uptick in the final hour of trading, supported by robust buying in banking, construction, power, and metal stocks.

  • Sugar stocks saw a sharp rally, rising by as much as 8.7%, following the Department of Food and Public Distribution's approval for sugar mills and distilleries to produce Rectified Spirit (RS) and Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) from sugarcane juice and B-heavy molasses.

  • The rupee ended flat, while forward premiums rose on expectations of a Fed rate cut.
