Good Glamm Group Acquires Sirona for ₹450 Crore

Hello,
Markets closed flat for consecutive sessions despite positive returns from other Asian markets. Profit booking in pharma stocks, following strong gains in recent weeks, contributed to the Nifty Pharma index becoming the worst-performing sector on the NSE. Additionally, a Reuters poll indicates that India's September inflation likely surpassed the RBI's 4% target. In other news, Blinkit is set to launch 'Cafe,' a new service for quick snack deliveries, and Good Glamm Group has successfully completed its acquisition of Sirona for ₹450 crore.

In response to reader feedback, our markets section will now include a special index in each issue, highlighting significant sectoral impacts, predictions, and forecasts. For instance, this issue focuses on the Nifty Pharma. We appreciate your suggestions and remain dedicated to enhancing our newsletter to better serve you.

As of 10/10/24

  • The Indian market ended on a muted note for the second consecutive session on Thursday, October 10, despite positive cues from global and Asian markets.

  • Selling pressure in IT and pharma stocks kept the main indices around their previous day's levels, while banking stocks saw strong gains, suggesting a sectoral rotation from pharma and IT to banking.

  • Pharma stocks faced profit booking following recent strong gains, leading to a drop of up to 6% in companies such as Lupin, Alkem, Torrent Pharma, Cipla, and Sun Pharma. Consequently, the Nifty Pharma index emerged as the worst-performing sectoral index during the session due to declines across most constituents.
