India-US Trade Talks Close

Hello,
Markets closed lower as profit booking emerged following the recent domestic rally. Shares of J B Chemicals tumbled up to 7% after Torrent Pharmaceuticals acquired a controlling stake from global private equity firm KKR, valuing the company at $3 billion.

On the global front, India-US trade talks have reached a crucial stage, with India maintaining a firm stance on agriculture and dairy-related issues.

In other key developments, AMG has acquired a 17.5% stake in Greenko Energy Holdings for $1.4 billion. Meanwhile, B2B startup Jumbotail raised $120 million from SC Ventures, valuing the company at $1 billion.

As of 30/06/25

  • Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, ended lower on Monday, weighed down by losses in financial and auto stocks. This came despite improved global risk appetite and stronger foreign fund inflows, driven by easing tensions in the Middle East.

  • Analysts noted that global sentiment is turning more favourable for equities amid reduced geopolitical risks and hopes of a US trade deal. However, profit booking set in after the recent rally in domestic markets.

  • While the medium-term outlook for domestic equities remains upbeat, investors are now focused on upcoming Q1 earnings and progress in India-US trade negotiations.

  • Attention is now shifting to corporate earnings, which are expected to provide fundamental support to valuations. Mid- and small-cap stocks outperformed, buoyed by expectations of stronger earnings led by consumption growth and margin improvement.
