Markets Surge, Godrej Profit Soars, OYO Expands

Hello,
Markets surged by over 1% yesterday, fueled by strong buying from DIIs, aided by SIP inflows at the start of the month. Mumbai-based Godrej Properties reported a 163% increase in consolidated net profit, leading to a 3% rise in its share price. The RBI is expected to cut rates for the first time since May 2020. OYO plans to invest $62 million in the UK to expand its premium hotel portfolio, while Avendus Future Leaders Fund invested $18 million in La Renon Healthcare.

As of 04/02/25

  • With a strong gain of over 1% on Tuesday, Sensex and Nifty 50 have turned positive for the year despite concerns over weak earnings, foreign outflows, and uncertainty surrounding US trade policies under President Trump.

  • The rebound may have been driven by short-covering by FIIs and buying by DIIs, supported by SIP inflows at the start of the month.

  • The market recently witnessed its second-longest correction in a decade, according to Jefferies. While a recovery is natural after steep corrections, it is too early to confirm a sustainable uptrend.
