RBI May Postpone Rate Cut Decision Until February

The RBI is expected to delay a rate cut until February 2025 due to persistent liquidity issues in the banking sector and controlled inflation within the 4-6% target range.

Hello,
Markets closed lower on Friday, driven by a significant selloff in select large-cap stocks. Despite a 25bps rate cut by the US Federal Reserve on Thursday, market sentiment remained unchanged. The RBI may postpone its rate cut decision until February due to ongoing inflation concerns. In corporate developments, Singapore Airlines plans to invest an additional Rs 3,195 crore in Air India following the Vistara merger. Additionally, REC is looking to raise Rs 5,000 crore through the issuance of zero-coupon bonds.

As of 08/11/24

  • The Indian stock market continued its decline for a second day on Friday, November 8, as a significant selloff in major large-cap stocks like Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, and Trent pressured the frontline indices, ending the session lower.

  • The 25-basis-point rate cut by the US Federal Reserve on Thursday did little to lift the Indian market, with investor sentiment dampened by concerns over weaker Q2 earnings.
