SEBI Eyes New Rules to Address Small IPO Surge

Hello,
Markets surged nearly 2% yesterday, fuelled by heightened expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut next week following recent U.S. inflation data. This rally was primarily driven by strong performances in the banking, auto, and IT sectors. Meanwhile, SEBI is contemplating new regulations aimed at managing risks associated with the influx of small IPOs in India. In other developments, Fireside Ventures, Peak XV, and other investors have divested Honasa shares worth Rs 1,602 crore. Additionally, SBI has sanctioned a Rs 10,050 crore loan for the development of a 1,600 MW thermal power project.

  • Indian stock markets saw a late-session surge, with the Sensex crossing 83,000 for the first time and the Nifty 50 reaching a new peak of 25,433 points, nearing the 25,500 mark.

  • This rally was supported by strong performances in the banking, IT, and auto sectors, propelling the indices to fresh record levels. U.S. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have remained net buyers in Indian stocks for three consecutive sessions.
