Volkswagen India Accused of Evading Rs 11,855 Crore Tax
Hello,
The stock markets maintained their positive momentum from Monday, with over 250 stocks reaching all-time highs on the BSE. However, shares of tobacco companies saw a decline following reports indicating a potential increase in the tax rate for cigarettes, aerated beverages, and other 'sin goods' to 35%. In corporate news, Volkswagen Group is facing allegations of evading $1.4 billion in taxes in India. Meanwhile, KKR is on the verge of acquiring a 60.36% stake in Healthcare Global Enterprises (HCG) for $550 million from CVC Capital.
As of 03/12/24
The Indian stock market saw robust buying across segments on Tuesday. A total of 251 stocks, including HDFC Bank, Persistent Systems, and Info Edge (Naukri), reached new one-year highs during intraday trade on BSE on December 3, driven by a broader market rally.
Investors are shifting focus to potential growth drivers, anticipating that weak economic data is already priced into recent subdued corporate earnings. Banking stocks led the gains, reflecting their sensitivity to interest rates.
