Hello,
Yesterday, the markets rose, driven by gains in FMCG and IT heavyweights, marking the fifth consecutive positive close. In line with the RBI’s push for banks to attract deposits, HDFC Bank outperformed its peers significantly in deposit acquisition. Additionally, Ireda is preparing to launch a follow-on public offering (FPO) valued at Rs 4,500 crore. Zomato is also set to acquire Paytm's entertainment and ticketing business for Rs 2,048 crore.

As of 21/08/24

  • Boosted by gains in select FMCG and IT heavyweights like ITC, Hindustan Unilever, and TCS, the Nifty 50, India's stock market benchmark, closed in positive territory for the fifth consecutive session on Wednesday, August 21.

  • Over these five sessions, the Nifty 50 has climbed approximately 2.6%.

  • The domestic market's gains on Wednesday were supported by generally positive global cues ahead of the Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, where investors expect US Fed Chair Jerome Powell to offer clear indications about the anticipated rate cuts, likely starting in September.
